The Village at Victory Lakes

Senior Living Remodels

The Village at Victory Lakes, located in Lindenhurst, IL, is a Catholic senior living community sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago. The thirty-eight-acre campus provides a variety of services for seniors including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, memory support, and rehabilitation.

An important part of the atmosphere at Victory Lakes is their emphasis on maintaining quality of life for their residents. One aspect of this is cultivating a quality area for friends and family to come and visit. Loberg Construction worked with the Victory Lakes team to remodel their care center.

Social Energy and Inviting Atmosphere

The goal was to increase the social energy and inviting atmosphere of the care center. The facility includes a new welcome area where family and visitors can relax. This sitting area has a coffee station with high-end finishes such as a quartz countertop and a pencil mosaic back splash. In the back of the house, we cut the cost of removing the original flooring and simply installed sheet vinyl with large format LVT on top of it. This strategy also protected the timeline of the project since the space was occupied during construction.

Additional amenities include an upgraded 800 sqft spa with plumbing to support 3-ADA shower stalls, a wheel-chair washing machine, and the Arjo Huntleigh medical bathing technology. The identical construction of the spa on floor 1 and floor 2 of the building was designed to improve the bathing and showering process of the adult residents.

More efficiencies in the facility were created with the nurses’ station which previously sat in the center of the main floor. Our construction team demolished and installed a new station in the corner of the room. These changes have enabled the caretakers at Victory Lakes to continue to provide excellent care to the residents by enhancing their workflow.

Patient Rooms

Thirty-three patient rooms were remodeled one wing at a time. This project included an assortment of renovations for each residents’ room. Our in-house carpenters used pre-existing cabinets from each room to reconstruct closets. The value-engineering efforts saved the costs of ordering and installing new closets and it also afforded our client an opportunity to change their concrete ceilings. The concrete ceilings were replaced with acoustical tiles which was more inviting for the patient’s rooms.

The construction team also installed data and electric into the walls. Previously, the rooms had exposed electrical cords from the TV sets’ placement on top of furniture. We enhanced safety and visual appeal by mounting TV’s directly on the walls of the patient rooms. Over the 3-4 month remodel, 33 patient rooms had updated ceilings, lights, soffits, closets, floors and fixtures.

Overview

The care center is an occupied space with patients, nurses, caretakers and visitors circulating throughout. Temporary walls, creative solutions and a coordinated effort among all stakeholders ensure the highest safety standards during these construction projects.

The senior living remodels at Victory Lakes were largely a success due to the excellence of our in-house trades. The flooring team and our carpenters created substantial cost and time savings for our client. Loberg Construction’s ability to directly control these services allows us to increase the overall quality of a project. Additionally, our in-depth understanding of medical construction complements our senior living project aptitude. The projects for the Village at Victory Lakes were an excellent showcase of our collaborative approach to construction with our strong in-house trades.
